अमरूद

अमरूद f.k.a. phenakistoskope

This site was created to practice coding and as a place to station stray thoughts and scraps of information gathered from the world. The information found here will be poorly organised, the thoughts fragmented and incoherent, the code barely functional. And yet, it will persist.

So far, i've found myself using this space to think about the books i read, by writing about them. Consequently, this site is mostly composed of text, which has, thus far, largely been in English. Certain scraps have been rendered in Bengali, Hindi, or French, and this sporadic bilingualism will continue.

The site is written in HTML and CSS; it is hand-coded by a beginner, and supplemented by the occasional snippet of JavaScript, inserted to save time. The site is mostly mobile friendly, but in case it isn't, i'm troubleshooting as i go.

As of March '26, i've renamed the site, while attempting to simplify its design and navigation considerably. This is a repository for walls of text, after all, and aesthetic acrobatics are unbecoming. i have, however, granted myself the luxury of four colours, and Mycorrhiza's leafy gecko.

Until i figure out an appropriate method for indexing and organising the text i have already written (i'm swallowing my distrust and learning JavaScript, while planning to dive into back-ends and whatnot), they've been taken off-line, but they will eventually re-surface. In the meantime, i will continue writing and posting monthly logs.

i'm still hobnobbing about on the Storygraph and Letterboxd, and i've initiated a very haphazard exploration of tilde.town to get a better foothold on this programming business. Oh, and by the by, अमरूद is hindi/urdu for guava, in case you were wondering. It's my favourite fruit, and i prefer to eat it raw, tart, and sprinkled with black salt, chili powder, and occasionaly, কাসুন্দি.
